Not only is there an enormous amount of information on the internet, there is, unfortunately, way too much misinformation.  "Buy this", "lower your mortgage rates", "get free credit", "take this drug", "it's natural or herbal", and "virus alert".  This is a list of links that I hope will help you validate what you read on the internet.

Before I list my favorite reference links,  I want to pass on you my rules for the internet:

Remember what your mother said about running with scissors. (Even though you probably did)

Never believe anything you read on the internet.  The internet is full of subjects we know little or nothing about.  It's very easy to become gullible.  Much information is almost entirely accurate but think, the hook is probably to get you to buy or believe something that benefits the author.  (Even me! Ask this, "Why is he taking his time to write this piece")  Use your common sense!!

Never believe "VIRUS ALERTS" sent by eMail!  They're ALWAYS false (even when they're true!)!  These emails do nothing more that waste space on the internet super-highway!

Your eMail address is a precious commodity.  Just visit an illicit or adult web-site and watch the inbox on your eMail program.  Don't post your eMail address on your web-site (personal or otherwise).  There are "webot" (some call them "spambot" or "spiders") that travel the internet looking for email addresses on web-pages to harvest for mass-mailing lists.  This also applies if you visit news-groups.
